If you've spent about two seconds on our Instagram feed, you know that we seriously love blue & white! It's certainly not the only color palette we use (see this project, this one, and this one), but it's one of our most requested and most used color schemes.
Why is that? The number one reason we love blue and white is that it's timeless. When you renovate and redecorate, you're making a major investment and dealing with the upheaval of construction. That's not something most people want to go through every couple of years. We always try to give clients a space that will feel fresh for a long time to come, and incorporating blue and white is a great way to do that.
These shots are from different projects that are several years old at this point. We think they still look fabulous!!
We also love blue and white because it works well with so many different styles. From traditional...
To contemporary...
To everything in between...
So even if our clients' tastes change over the years, we're often able to rework or reuse pieces that are blue and white.
Finally, blue and white is a natural choice for homes in our region. Here on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, where we're straddled by the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, life revolves around the water. A blue and white interior complements water views beautifully!
Not surprisingly, many of the pieces I've designed for my collection for Chelsea House incorporate blue and/or white. These are a few of my favorites:
What are your thoughts on blue and white? Do you love it... Or would you rather leave it? Let us know in the comments below!
I love all of your designs, Jamie! I live outside Atlanta and have access to beautiful decorative items, however, I’ve seen nothing that tops what you do! When I visit Cambridge l always stop in to check out what’s new in your shop. I never leave empty handed. Look forward to my next trip.
